Our brief was to create a contemporary traditional crossover suitable for several generations. A key requirement was an open-plan living space. This we achieved by taking down walls between the kitchen, lounge, and dining area.
The apartment was stripped back: out-of-date air-conditioning removed, underfloor heating and an automated lighting system installed. The bathrooms were refurbished with porcelain tiles accompanying antique brass fittings.
The smallest bedroom needed to be multifunctional – an office during the day and a bedroom at night. We achieved this by designing bespoke panelling that hid a pull-down bed.
The true test was when the clients moved in and felt at home immediately.
