Mixing Metals: Tom Faulkner

The mixed metal design trends are not brand new but they are current and growing in popularity.

This current trend, in essence, is the showcasing of different metals together to make an interestingly fabulous design scheme! Metals used include gold, copper, pewter, black steel, bronze, chrome and many more which also can be used in different finishes.

Although the combinations of metals are endless we have singled out a few of our favourite blends!

Starting off small…mixed metals look fantastic on items such as light fittings and lamps, kitchen utensils, frames, table legs and accessories.

Mixing up different accessories such as lamps, vases or frames can make a dramatic difference. For instance, these Galena vases are perfect for mixing metals on a smaller scale.

For larger areas such as living rooms, you can experiment with bigger items of furniture displaying various metal accents. The hand polished stainless steel on the Capricorn console table would coincide perfectly with a bronzed statement mirror. Metals can be subtly softened for example by mixing them with natural materials like cotton or fur cushion covers.

The best place to mix metals into the home, by far, has to be the kitchen! We love the Apollo rectangular dining table with its simple hand polished stainless steel frame.

The Liberty side table mingled into a bedroom will add glamour and elegance…try mixing it together with a metal bed frame to add even more interest!

The final result of incorporating Tom Faulkner mixed metal designs into your home can be amazing; The only real rule is to not to over work it!
