Mixing Metals

The mixed metal design trends are not brand new but they are current and growing in popularity.

This current trend, in essence, is the showcasing of different metals (usually just a few) together to make a interestingly fabulous design scheme! Metals used include gold, copper, pewter, black steel, bronze, chrome and many more which also can be used in different finishes.

Although the combinations of metals are endless we have singled out a few of our favourite blends!

Starting off small…Mixed metals look fantastic on items such as light fittings and lamps, kitchen utensils, frames, table legs and accessories. We particularly like mixed metal vintage style lights.

Mixing up different accessories such as lamps, vases or frames can make a dramatic difference. For instance, this piece of décor has balanced out the cold chrome side board by adding warmer metals like this gold table lamp and notable statement mirror, with a few softer touches of rose quartz and a few flowers.

For larger areas like living rooms, you can experiment with bigger items of furniture with different metal accents or even bigger metal parts to them. Polished chrome on occasional chairs coincide perfectly with the gold coffee table legs and bronze detailed mirror. Metals can be subtly softened for example by mixing them with natural materials like cotton or fur cushion covers.

The best place to mix metals into the home, by far, has to be the kitchen! Just like this kitchen interior design Sunningdale. We love this kitchens brushed chrome back splash and numerous gold accents!

The metals mixed in this bedroom add glamour and elegance by mingling a polished chrome bed frame with copper and bronze bedside mirrors and gold detailed lamps.

The final result of incorporating mixed metals into your home can be amazing! From interior design Sunningdale all the way to Hertfordshire and more; The only real rule is to not to over work it!
